I first met Tony when he and Carlos hopped into my brother's car to go watch APB (an Orcutt punk band) practice. Then I met him again a year or so later when we formed the Tommy Guns. We became pretty damn good friends.
Tony moved to LA in late 99 or early 2000. He worked on various film and animation projects. Later, he moved elsewhere in LA with Russ to study music at MI. Neither of them cared for the elitism of the students nor the methods of the classes. They both stopped that idea before it started.
They began work on a musical project called Cyeway. Not much came of this project. After Russ moved again, Tony began working on some original material with Audiomulch and various other programs. One evening in Santa Barabara after Pope performed, Tony took a few of us into a dark room and plugged his laptop into some speakers. The dark lullabies began. Tony re-emerged solo as Cyeway.
Cyeway opened up for Pope a couple times and Dubsense another time. Tony was playing regularly at a coffee shop in Los Angeles. As time passed, so did Cyeway.
In recent years, Tony has continued to make music on several fronts. One collaboration that has been a constant is with Prinlge, his buddy from LA. Like Lino, Tony has been giving a lot of attention to his DJ set over the past year. Recently, Tony had picked up the violin. He's already impressed himself with his quick ability to learn.
Tony and I are currently discussing a music/animation collaboration. This would be the first time we had worked together since the Tommy Guns.
Tony is living in Portland with Stef Choi working on a plethora of interesting projects. The progress of his work is outlined and updated on his blog found here.
